Down on the Ground Songtext
von Wayne Kramer

Down on the Ground Songtext

My brothers and I rolled out from Detroit
Out to Chicago to join in the fight
It′s the kind of shit that we did all the time
We play for the people who don't make a dime
It′s a bad sign on the front line

Allen Ginsberg's tent and home
Burroughs and Bailey just couldn't stay home
Blood ran cold and tensions thick
My head get cracked by a cop′s nightstick
It′s a bad sign on the front line

And I play my guitar and the peace comes down
On a beautiful cosmic siren's sound
And no one′s laughing, there ain't no joy
Down here on the ground

And the choppers are thumping
Trying to drown my sound
And I blast into feedback
Spurting in the crowd

It′s a war on hate
We're smashing the state
At the siege of Chicago back in ′68

And I play my guitar and the peace comes down
On a beautiful cosmic siren's sound
And no one's laughing, there ain′t no joy
Down here on the ground

It didn′t look good, it had a bad feel
I was high on that hashish brownie meal
And the action spilled to the streets of Old Town
Some threw rocks and others just threw down

It's a anti-profit application
The whole world is watching, we′re shocking the nation
Hell man, we ain't just anti-war
We′re anti-gravity

One, two
One, two, one, two, three, four
