A burning hill that tells a story
Above the clouds, and sees the light
But close enough to sunken cities
Through dreamy day and night
Before they came it burned and watched
And as they came it led them there
And bid them come to higher spots Its wise perspective share
A secret shrine in solitude
Not bound by walls
Or darkened hues
The first that came
Filled grassy pews
Life′s light ever renewed


Abrupt as life the next to come came
Abrupt as death waged silent war
And neutral nature beckoned in vain
The parish came no more
Below: the maze; but still that story
Related best at sunset time
The red hill's silhouette masks their glory
And veils their man-made shrines.
In cloud-fill vales or cloudless skies.
Our vision′s skewed through clouded eyes.
Don't dream in lies, but dream of life
Go bask in, learn of, light!
