This fire burns within me, a reminder every day
Destroyed lives and broken families, I can′t look away
So many find themselves on a path of dependence
Identities erased; actions defined by a substance

I can't, and I won′t, look away
Abstain and withstand, choose to convey
The meaning of this life, I won't fall prey
To their manipulation until the end of my days


I refuse and oppose, those who seek to gain
From havoc wrought on human lives, left torn and slain
I've witnessed to much pain and loss to ever think different
I′ll never let them take me, an unwilling participant

I disown the cycle of addiction
And reject this societal expectation

This passion will never cease
Steadfast in the words I speak

The world will never take this from me
