How long has it been now? I can′t remember
Days held in suspension, ripe with apprehension
Compounding fracture, a view from the deep end

Every time I'm granted a gasp of air
My thoughts pull me back into complete disrepair
Will I ever find peace or the closure I seek?
Left to accept my fate on this cold, forsaken peak


Countless hours spent, devotion & sweat
The culmination of which I never got to witness
A life I used to hold so tight in my hands
Has escaped me completely with time I′ll never get back

Change is a constant, nowhere that I can run to
Can't escape this black hole
Time itself forever altered
But what I wouldn't give for just one more day
The smell of sweet summer grass
And that old game we used to play
