Sometimes I see my mother in me
And sometimes it scares me to death
But I will rely on my tranquility
So nothing′s decided yet

It seems mothers are like a special breed
Sometimes they have no logic sense
And even before I learned how to read
I knew I could not make amends


"Mama, my new bike is gone", I said
"It must have been stolen last night"
The answer she gave me is still in my head
At the time I just gave up the fight
"I'm sure it is one of your friends", she replied
"They′ve all seen you want it, I know"
And what someone believes hardly can be denied
This was larger than me and it would grow

"But Mama", I screamed, "Just how can you think
That my best friends would do that to me?
No one can be trusted", she didn't even blink
I was nine years I think soon to be

So when sometimes I see my mother in me
I swear that it scares me to death
But I will rely on my tranquility
So nothing's decided yet
