Cotton Patch Blues Songtext
von Tommy McClennan

I left my baby in Mississippi, pickin′ cotton down on her knee
I left my baby in Mississippi, whoo
Pickin' cotton down on her knee, yeah
She said, "Baby, if you get to Chicago, all right
Please write me a letter if you please," yeah

I said, "Baby, that′s all right, baby, that's all right for you"
I said, "Baby, that's all right, that′s all right for you"
She said, "What you mean?"
You just keep on pickin′ cotton right there
Oh babe, sure 'nuff get through, yeah

Now I′m gon' leave Mississippi, hopin′ I might flag a ride
What you say?
I said I'm gon′ leave Mississippi, baby, hopin' I might flag a ride
And if I don't get nobody, oh babe, I′m gon′ pass on by
Play the box, man

Yeah, yeah

Baby, when I get in Chicago, I did swear I'm gon′ take a chance
Take your time now and play it right, 'cause it′s the last good one
When I get in Chicago, babe, I did swear I'm gon′ take a chance, yeah
I don't never get back to Mississippi, I'm sure gonna change your name
