The Unicorn Songtext

The Unicorn Songtext
You know, a long time ago
When the earth was still green
There were more kinds of animals
Than you have ever seen
They′d run around free
While the earth was being born
And the loveliest of them all
Was the unicorn
There were green alligators
And long necked geese
Some humpyback camels
And some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants
But sure as you're born
The loveliest of them all
Was the unicorn
Well, the Lord saw a lot of sinning
And it gave him so much pain
He said, ′Stand back, I'm going to make it rain'
He said, ′Hey, brother Noah
I′ll tell you what to do
Build me a floating zoo'
And in it put green alligators
And long necked geese
Some humpyback camels
And some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants
But sure as you′re born
Now don't you forget my unicorns
Well, old Noah was there
And he answered God′s calling
And he finished off making the ark
As the rain started falling
He marched in the animals two by two
And then he called out as they marched through
'Hey Lord, I′ve got your green alligators
And long necked geese
Some humpyback camels
And some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants
But sure as you're born
I just can't see any unicorns′
Then old Noah, he looked out
Through the driving rain
And the unicorns were hiding
And playing stupid games
They were kicking and splashing
As the rain started falling
Those silly unicorns
There were green alligators
And long necked geese
Some humpyback camels
And some chimpanzees
And Noah said, ′Close the door
For the rain is pouring
And we just can't wait for those unicorns′
Well, then the ark started moving
And it drifted with the tide
And the unicorns looked up from the rocks
And they cried
And the waters came pouring down
And floated them away
And that's why you have never seen a unicorn
To this very day
But you′ll see green alligators
And long necked geese
Some humpyback camels
And some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants
But sure as you're born
You′re never gonna see no unicorn
That's true
When the earth was still green
There were more kinds of animals
Than you have ever seen
They′d run around free
While the earth was being born
And the loveliest of them all
Was the unicorn
There were green alligators
And long necked geese
