Steinbeck′s Eden is dry and dusty
The wind rose groan of greener days
The well pump handle is long since rusty
The windfall rain and valley haze

Mine is a paradise made for one
There used to be more but that is now gone

I treasure the lingering smell of your clothes

Though I love the fields of wild flowers
