High Barbaree Songtext
von The Starboard List

There were two lofty ships from old England came
Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we
One was the Prince of Luther and the other Prince of Wales
Cruising down along the coast of High Barbary
"Aloft there, aloft there!" our gallant captain cried
Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we
"Look ahead, look astern, look to weather, look to lee"
Cruising down along the coast of High Barbary
"There′s naught upon the stern, there is naught upon the lee"
Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we
"But there's a lofty ship to windward and she′s sailing fast and free"
Cruising down along the coast of High Barbary
"Ahoy there, ahoy there!" our gallant captain cried
Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we

"Are you a man of war or a privateer?" cried he
Cruising down along the coast of High Barbary
"I'm not a man of war nor a privateer," cried he
Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we
"But I am a lofty pirate ship a-looking for my fee"
Cruising down along the coast of High Barbary
'Twas broadside to broadside along and they raced
Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we
Until the Prince of Luther shot the pirate′s mast away
Cruising down along the coast of High Barbary
"Oh mercy, oh mercy!" the pirates then did plead
Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we
"But the mercy that we showed you then we sunk them in the sea"
Cruising down along the coast of High Barbary
