The Last Time Songtext
von The Lighting Section

The Last Time Songtext

I walked in hoping to find him
But nothing′s changed at all
And when I scan the room
There's a painting on the wall
I′d never seen before
The bartender listens while I wait
"I've just searched all over town
Prathomer's been gone a while
Have you seen my man around?"
And like some cruel joke
He′d never heard the name

And it′s like I'm there again
Eleven days ago The last time I saw him
And it′s like I'm there again
Studying his sullen face when
His eyes lit up at the jukebox
Once he had found my favorite song
It comes and it goes like that

I′ll try again
All the places that we've been
The big and tall is worth a try
But my heart sinks a bit
At their new help wanted sign
In ink as red as blood
Forgot my spare key
But his doorman knows my face
And lets me up to the third floor
I was not surprised
To find a notice on his door
That his rent is past due
But I knock anyway

And it′s like I'm there again
Standing in the shadow of something he said
And it's like I′m there again
Blotting tears off of his face when
He says "I′ve stretched myself too thin
I'm not a lion, I′m a man"
It comes and it goes like that

Of all the times I spent with him
I am fondest of the moments when
He saw me the same way
In his everyday life
And now I'll spend those patient days
Wondering if that could have been
The last time I′ll see him
