Working Man Songtext

See that man over there
He doesn′t know
He doesn't care
About the things he′s missed out on
He didn't see until they'd gone

In his smart well-creased polished life
Of office blocks and closed-in lifts
And jogging trains and early shifts
Black paper cutout men in bowler hats

Rarely sees his loving wife
His screaming kids, his nagging mum
Well kept and far from city slum
Just his fellow men shiny and fat

See that man over there

He′s lost the chance to take his share
His fortune he took with greed
He didn′t say what was his need

The need to have his wife nearby
To heed his creed and see him through
To love and feed and help him to
See the things that make his life worthwhile
To shift his gloomy grey sky
And remove black paper men
Reveal the light and set his trend
Help the daily working man to smile

See that man over there
He doesn't know
He doesn′t care
About the things he's missed out on
He didn′t see until they'd gone
