Wishing for a Rainbow Songtext
von The Flatlanders

Standin′ at the crossroad in the rain
I've been here before, I can′t complain
Must be somethin' in the book of revelation
That keeps on messin' with my destination

That big ol′ city nearly did me in
I got my doubts if I′ll go there again
Turnin' back could turn into a heartbreak
Tonight I just need shelter from a heartache

Wishin′ for a rainbow
Listen to the wind blow
Wonderin' how can love grow
Wishin′ for a rainbow

I wonder if she found her way to Denver
If she still needs the love I said I'd send her
Like roses untended may grow withered
Love letters in my heart go undelivered

Wishin′ for a rainbow
Listen to the wind blow
Wonderin' how can love grow
Wishin' for a rainbow

Shattered glass all scattered ′cross the floor
Some fella left his suitcase by the door
I′d like to think I left it all behind me
And know for sure the past will never find me

There are some who sanctify revenge
Time and life will leave them on the fringe
Some to the end will carry grudges
Time and life and death will be their judges

Wishin' for a rainbow
Listen to the wind blow
Wonderin′ how can love grow
Wishin' for a rainbow
Wishin′ for a rainbow
Listen to the wind blow
Wonderin' how can love grow
Wishin′ for a rainbow
