You unlock your bike
In the dark, dark night

It′s an Amtrak, not a freight train

You thank the stars it's a passenger car
And one of them looks and waves
Are they headed to a better place?
It′s almost guaranteed

There's nothing in the shadows
As scary as what you see in the light of day

This town at night seems to lose a light
Every time we're down a friend
But the darker streets are fine with me
I don′t really want to see the end
But the skin gets tough, these eyes adjust
The more nocturnal I get
Looks like they used to make things here
Now it doesn′t even make sense
