Devil's Bride Songtext

Devil's Bride Songtext

You throw me water when I′m drowning
You take my kindlings when I'm cold
You gave me matches when I′m burning
You gave me pennies for my gold
You got a heart as hard as diamonds
It shines like a piece of gold
Buried deep in the ground
Like your cold black soul

You got one hand in my pocket
The other hand on a spade
Sending me to the bottle
Heading to my early grave

Well I've tried like the hell to leave you
But you keep pulling me back
Your love is like a freight train
And I'm tied to the track

Well now I′m gonna paint a little picture for you
Imagine on your walk home you stop at a bar to grab a drink
And you notice this couple around in the corner
And it looks like they′re having a real intense conversation
He's got about ten shot glasses in front of him
And they′re all empty
And she's got some kind of a drink with an umbrella in it
And she keeps talking

You can see her mouth moving an awful lot
But it doesn′t seem like he's listening to anything she′s saying
He's got that beat down look staring at the bottom of his glass
And you watch it for a few minutes
And then you see him taking a deep breath
And you know he's about to say something to her
He′s about to say something to her
Like he′s been wanting to say it for
An awfully, awfully, awfully long time

So you turn fully around and you see to
Get a good view of what's gonna go on
And just as the room goes quiet
This is what you will hear him say to her

Well no soul on earth could love you
Well no man can satisfy
Only hell′s on fire could ever warm you
You should be the devil's bride
You should be the devil′s bride
You should be the devil's bride
You should be the devil′s bride
You should be the devil's bride
