Blindfold Songtext

Blindfold Songtext
In love and luck and money
Your success could not be matched
Neither could the tragedy when both your wrists were slashed
You spent your life on money and it spent you just the same
It seems you never took the time to dig your own damn grave
You sounded like a good boy from what the papers say
I guess they never thought you′d kick the can in quite that way
You were to make them money but you killed yourself instead
Tell us what it's like to be a rich man when you′re dead
You gave your life (there was nothing you could do about it)
To the hands of financial enterprise (you were too afraid to doubt it)
Trapped in a blindfold made of lies afraid to open up your eyes
When you threw down your disguise it was too late to turn the tide
And what you wanted out of life
What you wanted, money could not buy
You split your life with labors and you thought so much was earned
But don't you think that both ends of the candle had been burned?
It brought you to the water, then it brought you to the grave
Perhaps you can be happy you are no longer a slave
Who could really have known the success you might've made
If indeed you′d never put your fingers to the blade?
In a slowly spinning world of economic mystery
I bet where you are now you′re getting more for your money
To all you politicians who think you have the right to say
"If you don't like what′s happening then we can make you pay,"
Where the hell's the money that you owe your fellow man?
If it′s not in your pocket, then I know it's in your hand
We can fuss and we can fight and get all caught up in this game
The world is always changing but corruption stays the same
So when the time has come for your mind to go insane
Just remember who you are. Don′t forget your name
Your success could not be matched
Neither could the tragedy when both your wrists were slashed
You spent your life on money and it spent you just the same
It seems you never took the time to dig your own damn grave
You sounded like a good boy from what the papers say
I guess they never thought you′d kick the can in quite that way
