Shift the Blame Songtext
von Surrogate

This tragic thing will spread its tragic wings
And float into the sky
Where people in this town
Will turn a prying eye

The confidence you once held in your friends
Will crumble into sand
Shattering any hope
To be ever again

The people in this town, they never sleep
They′re careful not to keep
Secrets that involve
Anyone but them

And they will run their mouths behind your back
All for one good laugh
And deconstruct your life
You'll never get back

With monumental failure
Comes monumental fame
I think it′s more than you can take
With monumental failure
Comes monumental shame
So I think it's time you shift the blame

The keepers of the bars downtown on Main
Know your story, but not your name
They've heard it a hundred times
From the flies that live there
Is that the kind of life you want to lead?
The friends you want to keep
The stories you want told
To everyone back home?

With monumental failure
Comes monumental fame
I think it′s more than you can take
With monumental failure
Comes monumental shame
So I think it′s time you shift the blame

Even with your unrelenting eyes
On a landscape oh so sleepy
Accidents with no reason or rhyme
Seem to have your name and number, oh
So I think it's time you shift the blame
