The Crow Songtext

A ways outside the town
Into a morial of dawn
In the quiet color cutting of another splendid sunset
On a sea of wire spun between two telephone pole nets
Sits an awful fevered murder of crows
Each in the dusk with a call that only they can lay low
And so that day they did unwittingly dispose
Themselves to the appetite behind all alone
Men yet not comprehending the stick in the center
Of the prey on prey ballet of ending day

Prey on prey ballet of ending day
Prey on prey ballet of ending day
Prey on prey ballet of ending day
Prey on prey ballet of ending day

Those crows twitching with the unliving day
Several thousand thick in a fit of everything but empty
Those crows sick their starving wings
Are choking out the sunfall sinking pinks
Surrounded by the pale water black of midnight and the cloud
Those crows dove into the quiet of the half sunken sun
To set themselves against the slow tick sparkly lakes
And then they died, they died and their dire became them

All who barged into the sunset′s well
Brought a pit of sky singing what if were spit
Back out to the doom and sing as flocks of forks with wing
The thing as needless and obvious and ominous old brand
To the soaring and sordid appetite
To the soaring and sordid appetite of man
The sky has always been a complex depth of all its haunting things

And so, so shall it grow
And so, so shall it grow
And so, so shall it grow
And so, so shall it grow
And so, so shall it grow
And so, so shall it grow
And so, so shall it grow
And so, so shall it grow
