An Obvious Distraction Songtext

I face the red sunrise
It′s burning deep into my eyes
I've been up all night coddled in the silence
It′s only hit or miss but still I find I can't resist
The urge to get all tangled in your violence

Will I win?
Will I lose?
Depends upon the path we choose
I don't care that it′s just another ruse

Baby put your rifle down
My face is buried in the ground
You′re an obvious pretender
Yet I submit to surrender
Baby loosen up these chains
The blood ain't flowing to my brain
You′re an obvious distraction
Yet I'm crippled by inaction beside you

I walk the moonlight mile
And won′t be back for quite a while
But it doesn't seem to phase you in the slightest
I watched my bridges burn
I guess that means I can′t return
But it's worth it cause my flames had danced the highest

Will you dance?
Will I sing?
Are we losing everything?
All I have is the air to keep me breathing

Baby put your rifle down
My face is buried in the ground
You're an obvious pretender
Yet I submit to surrender
Baby loosen up these chains
The blood ain′t flowing to my brain
You′re an obvious distraction
Yet I'm crippled by inaction beside you

What good′s a fortress if you never guard the gate?
What good's a cross of gold if you never, never, never had the faith?

Baby put your bible down
My faith is 6 feet underground
You were an obvious pretender
And I′m done with my surrender
Baby loosened up these chains
Now blood is flowing through my veins
You were an obvious distraction
I was frozen by inaction
You were an obvious distraction
