There Is a Light Songtext
von Steve Smyth

There Is a Light Songtext

They say lightning doesn′t strike one twice
I believed them when I saw your mother
My hands were on fire
When I walked her home through the pouring rain
Your grandfather was a stern bastard
He didn't care too much for our culture
I showed him a thing or two
When the church bells rang the day of our wedding

There is a light that comes to you in a dark night
Blinding where love has no end

The diamond pearls beat against the window
As we both drove down that highway
All we left behind was our youth and a crying mother
The sweet smell of magnolia blooming
Heading for the coast, the sun will now soon settle
Her smiles were under the wheel
′Cause we're moving and this is our way
And this is a nonsense and we're never coming back

There is a light that comes to you in a white flash
Lightning where storms bring change

I got a job on a ship that sailed across those oceans
I′ve seen so many walks of life and harbors
When I heard your voice it was all to remind me
It was raining down just like tonight
I was full of sorrow when I walked through that door
To know I wasn′t coming back
To make broken presents, regretted sheets
Try to find our lost promise

And there is a light that comes to you in a wild cry
Of control, a belief that you never ever want again
