Requiem Songtext
von Steve Knightley

Requiem Songtext

I′ll have no bugles played from lonely shires
Or flags half-raised on some country spire
I'll have no curtains drawn in silent rooms
No mausoleum or marble tombs
Foundations laid with heads bowed down
Or hushed cortege in some English town

But in these coming days, pause a while
To think of me and gently smile

I want no sad parades to muffled drums
Or fiddles played at the setting sun
No words engraved on some woodland bower
Or coat of arms on some distant tower
No flowers strewn on wayside shrines
Or solemn prayer with arms entwined

In these coming days, will you pause a while
To think of me and gently smile

Go shout out the words we left unsaid
Go walk on the paths I will never tread

But in these coming days, will you pause a while
To think of me and gently smile
