Treasured Wounds Songtext
von Stephen Bruton

Treasured Wounds Songtext

There′s a neon sign blinking
On the wrong side of town
It's an old lighthouse beacon
For lost souls run aground
And they look at their lives
Like a vein that′s been opened
And you can't tell for sure
If they're laughing or choking

Some sit in silence
And stare off in space
And some holding court
Tend to get in your face
But they all see themselves
Like a coin that′s been tossed
And hope that they′re worth
What they lost

So turn back the clock
To back when it stopped
And we'll sing all our old favorite tunes
And resurrect
Kneel, bow and genuflect
Before our most treasured of wounds

Now memories and shadows
Grow long with the day
And come back to life
When night has its way
And we′re all old soldiers
We won the war
Only to fall on our swords

Before our most treasured wounds
Before our most treasured wounds

And it takes one to know one down here
