Well, I met Mary at the county fair
Cut-off jeans and long brown hair
The roller coaster was nothing compared
To Mary′s sea-green eyes
We bought two tickets to the carousel
Climbed up on the horses and there we fell
Head over heels, but neither would tell
The other at the time

Two years later in the following spring
I gave Mary a diamond ring
The look on her face was the happiest thing
I think I've ever seen
Her mama and her daddy and my folks too
Along with everybody any one of us knew
Gathered around while we said, "I do"
And though it′s been a while
It still makes my heart smile
