Mountains Songtext

Across my path, came a man through the woods
He spoke of many things I could not see
He was a wanderer, without a house of brick nor stone
I asked him where his destination would be
And he said

"I am going to the mountains on the sea
To a place where love is given freely
Out in the distance, we′ll fly another round
To a place where hate can never be found"

Now far behind him, there was fear, and death and pain
Now lay before him, just the very same
Yet smiled inside him, a piece of the whole world
Hidden somewhere between somewhere and everywhere to stay
And he said

"I am going to the mountains in the sky
To a place where dreamers can get high
Out in the distance, we'll fly another round
To a place we′ll know the most profound"

Though absurd his words were, was his message clear
Though his walk was wayward, a path was always near
Scars upon his hands, and unguided eyes surveyed
Patterns torn asunder, the crazed became the sane

Now wicked ones they prosper, the prosperous shall grieve
When all the fruits they've gathered turn rotten to the seed
Now there's business in the temples, now there′s poison in the seas
So if y′all are looking for a way up, forsake your gods of gold and follow me
And we said

I am going to the mountains in the stars
To a place where unseen wonders are
Out in the distance, we'll fly another round
To the place we came from, to the place we′re bound
Out in the distance, it's plain for all to see
That the fall of love is the place to be
