Love, oh sweet love
The most important thing in the world
Some people want it, need it, crave it, dream it
Others dread it, fear it, avoid it, miss it
Or never get to know it at all

It is present in every movie, every book and every song
People do truly wonderful and also truly terrible things because of it
And when you ask someone to define love
You realize that you always get a different answer
So you start looking for it yourself
You read all the books, you watch the movies back and forth
And learn all the love songs by heart
And then you think you got it, you′re smart

You're an expert now and when you meet the right person
Every day should feel like painting the sky
Like bathing in sunlight
Like dancing in space
Shouting their name down from every mountaintop
Like being the luckiest person alive


And then you get your heart broke
Once, twice, damn it so many times
And you ask yourself what is wrong
Why is it not working?
I followed the scripts, I did every bit they do
In all the movies and still no luck
Fuck it, I give up

And then you go to this party
Have that one night stand or join a band
And there it is
A gentle kiss, never ending laughter
Midnight talks for hours and hours
Feeling understood in silence
Being considered every day, every night
Being able to fight, to cry, to rant, to breathe
Coming home after a long day and falling asleep on that chest
That′s just the best

And slowly but surely you start to heal
It's real, you found it
Now treasure it, water it, never take it for granted
No matter how long or short this road may be
You see, love is not for the weak
It takes effort, patience and promises to keep
It's not at all like in the movies
But it′s better, it′s real
