Wake up early, go for a run
Fold the laundry, make the bed
Turn on the news and then turn off the news
I don′t need more to-dos
Swirling 'round in my head
Can I just slow down and breathe
When I do, what do I see


There′s a sweet summer breeze
Trees overhead
My kids sleeping in
In their little bunk beds
I cuddle with coffee
As the mockingbird sings
I have list upon list
Of things to get done
But my youngest is up now
She gives me a hug
She wants to make pancakes
And get pushed on the swing
My life is blessed
With the most insignificant things

Pick up from school
They run and they jump in my arms
They made some more art to hang on the fridge
So many trinkets
And gadgets and bracelets and charms
Yet each has a story and they know what it is
When I just slow down and breathe
There is so much joy I see


There's a whispering wind
Branches swaying
My kids and their friends
Out running and playing
I walk to the park
To embrace what the afternoon brings
I have list upon list
Of things to get done
But my oldest is restless
She wants to have fun
She wants to ride bikes
And make jewelry from string
My life is blessed
With the most insignificant things

Look around me
