The Wonder Songtext

The Wonder Songtext

When I was a younger man
My hair was a lighter hue
I was full of wonder then
My eyes were a brighter blue
But the years roll on by
And the shadows move in
Like the line of a gathering storm
Blown by an unsettling wind
Can you find me now
On the edge of the sea
Growing weaker with every wave
Breaking down on me

God, how I want the wonder
I knew when I was younger

When I was a younger man
I thought that my heart was true
It had a hunger then
My faith had a farther view
But the years roll on by
And the doubts creep on in
Til I′m just the ghost of a boy
Out of touch with his own skin
Can you find me now
On the edge of the scene
Playing a minor role
In a movie about me

I want to have the hunger
I had when I was younger
God, how I want the wonder
I knew when I was younger

Now every cliche I've heard
Is a familiar sword
Stuck into my chest
While my hopes and dreams
Are like a beat
Coming from a stranger′s breast
I see all the roads behind me
Though not the miles left
While everything I could be
Is just hanging by a thread
All my fears of getting older
Will cost the time I've left to spend
While the thread could lead me somewhere
I could learn to catch my breath

God, how I want the wonder
I knew when I was younger
I want to have the hunger
I had when I was younger
When I was younger
When I was younger

When I was a younger man
You knew who I would be
You were the thunder then
I heard you in my dreams
As the years roll on by
As the story unfolds
I'll surrender myself to the storm
And embrace the unknown
You can find me now
On the edge of my seat
Thrilled at the thought of what′s next
With no clue what it will be
