River and Spout Songtext

River and Spout Songtext

Four walls, a roof, and plenty of
Attention and food to fill me up
All my life should have been enough
To show me how to love you

But I′m sorry I don't always know
Just how to let the small things go
Or what to say when it matters most
You make it look so easy

If you′re a river, then I must be a spout
Where you deliver, I'm barely spitted out, you know that
No one wants a taste unless it's flowing, cool and clean
You′re what love is made of
My imitation′s cheap

Honest, I don't remember when
I had a thought pass through my head
Not about me in the end
And I don′t know how to curb it

Can't help but wonder why I don′t
Ever feel ice in your tone
Or have to hear I told you so
Heaven knows, I've earned it

If you′re a river, then I must be a spout
Where you deliver, I barely spit it out, you know that
No one wants a taste unless it's flowing, cool and clean
You're what love is made of
My imitation′s cheap

I don′t wanna lose you
I know you're not just a game I′m playing
When'll I ever understand?
The more I know it
The less I wanna show it
Love means folding with a winning hand, mmm
