With a unique world view
My vantage point is different ′cause of what I've been through
Not all horror stories but I got more than a few
Maybe I'll share ′em later or maybe I′ll share 'em now
If I′m ready to meet my maker
Don't judge my creator based on my behavior
I′m a broken man in desperate need of a savior
But I'll pitch in the heavenly realms
Because the salvation man is redeemed since he initially fell
I′m made well 'cause in God's family I′m adopted

Similar to my mom when her mom felt like she had no other options
My grandmother took her as a baby
Didn′t tell her 'til she had me and that still affects her daily

Lately I′ve had this ill vision, man
To see my broken family reunited over dinner plans
My pops is a businessman, that's who I get my style from

I′m over my hangups, he no longer gets the dial tone
Excited 'cause I′m a different person now that I'm grown
Anchored like a ship, my foundation is in my home
Appreciated more by folks in different time zones
But that's fine ′cause last night they were quoting my poems

I do still struggle of course

I used to think I was to blame for my parents′ divorce
In retrospect a lot has changed since I carried the torch
Of my last name, the flame is still sharing the force

That writes music and oh yeah, I like mine
If I didn′t I wouldn't do it, why write rhymes?
I′d probably work a nine to five, way more stability
Health insurance, benefits all in my vicinity
Paid vacations but some of y'all ain′t feeling me
So when I'm on the road my iPhone roams like Italy
Worldwide I got a rep for damaging mics
But most days I'd rather just hang with my wife
She′s my rib, she′s my star, she's my safe haven

So amazing, she′s my heart, she's my inspiration
To keep changing, keep growing, keep getting better

I remember when I′m fed up
Nobody owes me anything
No handouts, no promises but this wedding ring
