people try to close in

it doesn't lift
there are some who′re speeding in their cars
they sit on the hood &
the music thunders on
then shoot their arms


there's a distance between you and me
that we used to rush in
from your belly to your cheeks
it burnt our lips
and we were close to everything
so young and naive
so desperate and drunk
oh god

shells falling for minutes at a time
three filters from the scream to the eyes
inmates holding their daughter's hand
if it was so obvious how did it come to that?
