Memory never serves
You see it straight ahead if you can
Eventually it swerves
And leaves you standing there
With an empty leash in your hand

Everything up to this point told me
That I′d be far away from where I am
'Cause every face is turned away
Every hand is closed
But wait, is that an open I see
Or just my failing memory?


Presence is an unlikely foe
It hides itself deep inside our chest
And shows itself just to let me know
That what I am is nowhere near my best

I thought you could set me straight
But all, all you′ve done is turn me inside out
'Cause every thought destroys itself
Every voice is someone else
I guess you've helped me understand
