I′m a storyteller, ah but aren't we all?
takes 10 years to untangle these tall tales we tell
Making sense of the nonsense,
volcanos just below
plugging pores to our surfaces,
holding back the lava flow
The emperor laughs and he laughs
but then he tells us straight
I never had no clothes, ah but who does anyway?
we fake it till we make it, never look it in the eye

What If we changed our stories,
what if we changed our made-up minds
What if we dared to tear out the pages,
there′s no telling what we'd find
What if we ditched these tired tales we tell,
leave the weary one's behind
It′s time we storytellers write a new storyline
It′s time we storytellers write a new storyline


and our bodies they're all symphonies,
energy and light
and our truth steams to the surface
in our dreams every night
we do this dance shoulder to shoulder,
we retell well-rehearsed lines
but smoke and mirrors always find the cracks,
it′s a matter of time
And we laugh and we laugh,
but the truth hides in the joke
the universe might only tell us once,
so we better listen close
we spin our stories, seal our case,
but did we see the other side

What If we changed our stories,
what if we changed our made-up minds
What if we dared to tear out the pages,
there's no telling what we′d find
What if we ditched the tribal tales we tell,
try to see the other side
It's time we storytellers write a new storyline

and we yearn for rhythm, ease the pace,
slow the tempo, don't want to face
these yarns we spin won't sew the holes in our hearts
we skip over these sidewalk cracks,
back-step and stagger, when all along
our truth is trembling all alone,
cryin′ all I′ve wanted was to belong
