Skye Songtext
von Ray

North of the maps I keep inside
There′s an island breathing through stone
Heather writes in the language of rain
Every ridge remembering something
Before we had names for it
You arrived there before your footsteps
The land already knows your shape
I only follow

The air folds around us slow as old wool
Every silence opens like another doorway

I want to love you on Skye
Where the cliffs borrow light
From whatever waits beyond morning
Where our shadows drift into peat and sea
Until they forget which one began them
I want your heartbeat woven into the weather
Not borrowed, not hidden
Simply becoming another element of the island

Black water gathers forgotten stars
The hills lean closer without moving
The raven stitches invisible paths
Between your breathing and mine
Nothing asks permission
Nothing explains itself
Even the wind keeps our secret without trying

I want to love you on Skye
Where the cliffs borrow light
From whatever waits beyond morning
Where our shadows drift into peat and sea
Until they forget which one began them
I want your heartbeat woven into the weather
Not borrowed, not hidden
Simply becoming another element of the island

Maybe the island exists inside us already
A country built from unfinished dreams
Mist drinking colour from the sky
Time dissolving into moss and salt
Perhaps every road I've ever taken
Has only been circling that one impossible shore
Where your hands finally find mine

I want to love you on Skye
Where the cliffs borrow light
From whatever waits beyond morning
Where our shadows drift into peat and sea
Until they forget which one began them
I want your heartbeat woven into the weather
Not borrowed, not hidden
Simply becoming another element of the island

I want to love you on Skye
Where the horizon never settles
And the sea keeps rewriting forever
Where every stone carries an old pulse and memory
Leave our names to the mainland
Leave every certainty behind
Let the island decide who we become
