Seventh grade, first day of school
The first time I laid eyes on you
A blue Fjällräven rucksack
You′d dyed your hair from blonde to black

It took a month for me to speak
a word to you, and it came out weak
I mumbled that I also had
a Nirvana t-shirt, somewhere


We were young, we were told:
"Now, you'll regret this when you′re old"
and yet here we still stand
Safe in our own world built on sand

A year passed by, I stayed close
Became your friend, the rest were foes
We formed a band, called "The Hate"
The first rehearsal you were late

Your dad had thrown a fit once more
I patched you up just like before
You screamed: "I swear, I'll run away"
You kissed me after I said: "Stay"
