If It's Meant to Be a Party Songtext

If it′s meant to be a party
I don't know why I came
I haven′t got a funny yet
And the jokes are kinda lame
Whoever drew this guest list up
Has got to be insane
Won't someone please explain?

Just don't talk to me of government
Don′t talk to me of law
My eyes have seen the changes
I′ve heard it all before
Talk to me of romance
And the stars all shining bright
And this good old dog will rise again tonight

Fate spun me 'round and blew me down
Like a snowflake on the run
I turned around and held my ground
Throwing pebbles at the sun
Six o′clock, all seemed lost
The tide had turned by one
I made towards the door
Saying what for?

Just don't talk to me of government
Don′t talk to me of law
My eyes have seen the changes
I've heard it all before
Talk to me of romance
And the stars all shining bright
And this good old dog will rise again tonight

If you think that life′s a circus
The whole world loves a clown
Better to be that way
Than smiling as you drown
Me, my mind is made up
But I won't bring it down
It's the least that I can do
If I love you

Just don′t talk to me of government
Don′t talk to me of law
My eyes have seen the changes

Call me to the call
Talk to me of romance
And the stars all shining bright

Of sunny days and summer nights
And beat yourself right
Of swimming pools and barbecues
Kissing games and tennis shoes
Of brand new sports cars hardly used
And what went on when the lights all fused
Talk to me of big-eyed girls
With a love light in their eyes
And this good old dog will rise again tonight
