Once I was lord to the meek
Until my cheek began to fall apart
A muffled pain at first
Turned into a wildfire burst
Choked was the spreading of my youth

Flesh soon became rough
Dry the rivers on its path
An early winter for a newborn tree
In a kingdom set ablaze
Standing still among the graves
I′ll bring forth my own crusade

I'll leave this place
Where people, not walls
Crumble to dust

Trade a soul for a life
And a softer skin
Hell is worth a try
If you′re already stained with sin


Our lord takes his toll
Prayers can't be sold
The law: eye for eye
His truth for my lie
That's the gate to the world
It′s my way out of this place
It will open for me

No more palace and gold
Heart and soul belong to the lord now
Fires of love for good have gone cold
While wounds shrink
And the truth unfolds

I until today
Haven′t realized what I bargained
All that used to make my day
Now has turned into rotting decay

What is left to be sown?
Walking miracle, servant and pawn
A fool's errand a war to wage
Craving in secret that nothing would change


Now I′m aware of my fate
It does not lie elsewhere
But on this side of the gate
Among the lepers

My lord chose it for me
