I once took a trip to an opaque land
On a train of thought that went off the rails
I made up a story to pass the time
Did not expect that to be a crime
I have a sharp mind that can cut through butter
It shines like a gleaming porcelain bowl
My words are like sunlight: a hot mystery
There are languages spoken only by me
Oh I′m a smuggler of worlds
Of words, of streams
I live in between
I buy and sell dreams
Oh I deceive and seduce
I see right through
I hide in amnesia
Where everything's true
River sand flows
Nobody knows
Gravity slows
I was caught at the border by brain-sniffing dogs
They found contraband dreams and some naughty ideas
They held me for days in a room with no walls
Sleeping and drooling and licking their balls
They showed me pictures of stale bread and paste
But I dreamed about mangoes and coffee and steak
They told me to shit in a leaky old pail
I wrote bathroom graffiti all over their jail

I hide in amnesia

They said I performed an implausible act
They tried to delete me with judgmental soap
I told them I only refreshed the decor
And asked them politely to show me the door
I turned on a light bulb to clear the air
I blew a tin whistle to keep them at bay
A turbulent river of neurons and fire
Carried my character out through a wire

Then I filled up my luggage with sorrow and mirth
And so I returned to my humble shed
With a sparkling new cargo of legend and bread
A prosperous journey, it must be said
And I′m so glad to be here back home in my head
