Alike to the rest
A gift without resale

Welcome to the expanse

Born out of intention

I′m the author of everything you are
(And everything you'll be)
I've awakened your hungry open heart

Time aligning with thought
I see what I′m not
And wonder who I am
Crying out for a change
I have in good faith
You made me to withstand

You awakened the heart that let this in
(I promise I′d be good)
Yet those who follow equate this pain to sin
(I'd live just like I should)

Screaming, knees to the floor
I asked for no more
Than freedom from my truth
Raised believing that I
Was born to feel lies
And parse them in such youth

The perfect story of flesh mismatching soul

And I was only a kid with no control

Your power mesmerizing
Your very will is earth-defying
Still, I was left with just myself

Struggling to silence the inner yell

Beholden to the rules
But who created rules?
If you would call it love
I don′t know if I believe in love
If love is to refuse another way
Allow to fail then turn and say

Sentiments death-aligning
My heart gets heavy even trying
I freeze when simply asking why
Why everything that I′ve known
For my entire life about true grace
Feels vastly out of place

Just following the rules
The self-created rules
If this is out of love
I don't know if I believe in love
If love is to enlist without request
Accept the few and burn the rest
