Top Forty Town Songtext
von Patsy Riggir

It was true country music until they confused it
And turned everything upside down
But among the deceivers, there′s still some believers
In the true country singers in a top forty town

Now the Opry has gone where she don't belong
And the old Ryman, there′s not a sound
Sit there off Broadway, shed a tear for this day
And the true country singers in a top forty town

They're pushing the pop songs, the countrified rock songs
It's best that old Hank′s not around
With his songs for the lonely, today he′d be only
A hillbilly singer in a top forty town

Now the Opry has gone where she don't belong
And the old Ryman, there′s not a sound
Sit there off Broadway, shed a tear for this day
And the true country singers in a top forty town

Now the Opry has gone where she don't belong
And the old Ryman, there′s not a sound
Sit there off Broadway, shed a tear for this day
And the true country singers in a top forty town

The true country singers in a top forty town
