Spring, spring was a friend I used to know
But then spring, spring grew old and then had to go
The flowers hid their face in the middle of the field
As the snow came all around
And the little birds flew south away from the cold
′Til their friends came up from the ground


And there they sat patiently waiting for them (them)
For a sign that the sun does send (send)
To say that everything's okay

Now, now winter has took me as its own
But now, now my skin got tired of the cold
But then the flowers came up strong pushing through the dirt
Which took the season by surprise
And the sun took its hand inside of its own
Saying, "Wipe away the sleepy eyes"

And now spring has come once again (again)
To take me as its own, as a friend (friend)
