The Forbidden Tree Songtext
von One Time Weekend

Dusk in the garden
Afar
A shadow draws in
The serpent of Eden
Confides
And leads to the forbidden tree
(The Forbidden Tree)

You always seemed so eager to see
A vision
Beyond
Yourself
And I
Promised not to say
But lately
This curse
Of ours
And it′s
Lurid
Guilt
Makes us throw it all away

Released from blindness
So far beyond us
Catatonic
You stare with a drought in your eyes
Forward and back swings the wind of anguish
We're thrust into darkness
Bound by our maker′s wrath
Again
(The Forbidden Tree)

Now in our cities
Of chrome steel
The apple grows
Dark mirrors that hold us
We're owned
By promises they never keep
(The Forbidden Tree)

You always chased the shimmer of more
A hunger
Refined
As need
But grows
Quietly beneath
And lately
This curse
Of ours
Reveals
To us
How
The truth unwinds itself in shame

Released from blindness
So far beyond us
Catatonic
You stare with a drought in your eyes
Forward and back swings the wind of anguish
We're thrust into darkness
Never once were
We meant to see the light of day
The apple we tasted still rots a message
Bloodied and staining
Bound by our maker′s wrath
Again
