Happy was the road we walked, good friends at heart
For many happy years
But crossroads are now here and the best of friends must part
And go on without fears
Though the first mile′s longer now than it appears


We've been to the north, where the sun shines all the night
And down south, at the sea
We′ve seen many lands and cities full of lights
And people strange to see
But it's only here we feel home and free

Night is getting near, but the dawn will come again
Be glad when it comes
Long, long was the road we walked through hill and plain
But want more than we've done
And our road leads out of night to the sun
