But the ways of this providence
Are the worst I′ve ever seen
There's a gap in the elements
And our deeds all turn out mean
I shall abide, but not give in

Now the sun here is devilish
And our shades are all pierced
Leaving home is too perilous
And fulfills all our fears
How long we′ll last, no one can tell


Efforts will not be in vain
Though the harvest of souls will prevail
Still there is much to attain
And many an unseen domain to assail

As the words of potency
Go on writing themselves
Angel eyes are greeting me
From their heaven hotels
I shall abide and not give in

There's a war on the vegetables
And no stone in our men
Our meals become ominous
And will not eat until
This providence ends its web
