Alright, so, it′s DC, it's the late 70s and I′m dating this guy whose
Dad was the ex-dictator of -. He was really cute and he was one
Of my scuba diving students. Anyway, he was an assistant to Leonard
Bernstein. So, um, Leonard had this big event at the Watergate Hotel
But actually, I'm sorry, it was the Kennedy Center. The afterparty Was at the Watergate. And I was pretty young, I mean, I, I hadn't
Experienced a lot of the world yet, I was in my early 20s. And
And we went to this afterparty and I sit down, and all of a sudden
There′s Chick Corea on one side, Herbie Hancock on one side, Leonard
Bernstein across the round table, and congressmen and senators galore


Were all invited to this private afterparty. And I just, I′m a little
Starstruck. So we're eating and drinking and all of a sudden, I′m
Waiting for dessert. Well, the dessert comes on a silver platter
And they were, like, mounds of coke on silver platters. With
Congressmen and senators attending. And I didn't wanna react, like
"Ugh, of course, this happens every day, this is not a big deal."
And so they start divvying up, and there′s about

Twenty people in the room and it's almost like this
Like, it was, almost had this feeling of like, this cult
That′s basically it. And yes, I did a little coke
