There′s rust a-growing on us
And I must have left the sprinkler on overnight
But it sure felt right when I was good and tight
Doing something so wrong
Yeah, but now I'm dry
′Cept for the tears in my eyes
From telling little white lies
To the one I love

Rust can grow on anything
Especially a golden ring
Now I just stare up in the big blue
'Cause there's nothing left to use


Dirty dishes are stacked
Bathroom mirror still cracked
And she won′t be back
Around here anymore
So there′s no sense
In fixing the fence
Or painting over the dents
In the aluminum door
Not like we planned
When we were making our stand
As woman and man
'Fore she had to go
