youngestchild Songtext

I drive like my father
I should cause he taught me
But just with a little more nerves
You see I crashed my car
In the middle of high school
And never recovered
From the swerve

And I was the last thing
My mother ever had
And the last thing they would have together
So put it on the youngest child
Born right after December

And when I got older
I moved like I should′ve
We talked whenever we could
Oh but I tried to grow up
Without people watching
And forgot people grow
When they're old

And I met a man
With a life of his own
With a dog
A cigar
And religion
Who still loves the youngest child
And all the decisions

That made him mad
That made him doubt
Any chance he gave her
To make it out

I drive like my father
I should cause he taught me
But some things I′ll never quite learn
Like how to open wine right
Or change my oil
Or stop being a little girl
