Ghost Train Songtext
von Mary McCaslin

Ghost Train Songtext

Many years ago way out east of town
An old railroad crossed through the rows of trees
Now rows of houses overcome the orchards
No more lonesome whistles carry on the breeze

Now as far as I can see is an empty railroad bed
Though the station calls to me from down the line
I find myself still peering through the darkness
Hoping just to see a distant headlight shine

I just stepped off the ghost train, it′s never coming back
Years and years together heading down a one-way track
The rails have long been pulled up like dreams to cast aside
But the ghost train still rolls onward
And you're taking one last ride
Yeah, the ghost train still rolls onward
And you′re making one last ride

Do-do-do, do-do-do
Do-do-do-do, do-do-do

I still feel a chill clear down to my soul
When I think about how some things are no more
There's so much lost and so much never gained
Like a pouch of gold dust scattered on the floor

I just stepped off the ghost train, it's never coming back
Years and years together heading down a one-way track
The rails have long been pulled up like dreams to cast aside
But the ghost train still rolls onward
And you′re taking one last ride
Well, the ghost train still rolls onward
And you′re making one last ride

I just stepped off the ghost train, it's never coming back
Years and years together heading down a one-way track
The rails have long been pulled up like dreams to cast aside
But the ghost train still rolls onward
And you′re making one last ride
Yeah, the ghost train still rolls onward
And you're making one last ride

Do-do-do, do-do-do
Do-do-do-do, do-do-do
Do-do-do-do, do-do-do
Do-do-do, do-do-do
