Elm Songtext

Elm Songtext
If the elms are so wise
Why do they fall with the weather′s demise?
How could each branch
Twist and break from the cruelness of its winds?
I'd cradle all its unknowns
Until it feels safe at home
On this foreign hill
Unless the spring carries its load
If the weather′s so cruel
Why are its winds something that soothes?
On the first of July
How could its calm nature disturb their peace of mind?
But I'd hold it 'till
All its storms help the elms move onwards
In this humidity
Unless the wind understands its toll
All in good nature
Until you let go
If they sat beside each other and rationalized whatever
Maybe I wouldn′t have to hold
And make them listen ′till they know
Just so they'd each feel known
Until spring comes again
Why do they fall with the weather′s demise?
How could each branch
Twist and break from the cruelness of its winds?
I'd cradle all its unknowns
Until it feels safe at home
On this foreign hill
Unless the spring carries its load
If the weather′s so cruel
Why are its winds something that soothes?
On the first of July
How could its calm nature disturb their peace of mind?
But I'd hold it 'till
All its storms help the elms move onwards
In this humidity
Unless the wind understands its toll
All in good nature
Until you let go
If they sat beside each other and rationalized whatever
Maybe I wouldn′t have to hold
And make them listen ′till they know
Just so they'd each feel known
Until spring comes again
