Donut Man Songtext
von Marc Benno

On the corner of Fifth and Main
By the old riverbed near the railroad train
There′s a shop near the track
And the owner works in the back
Got a hole in his shirt and a hole in his shoe
Walk around without a whole lot to do
Got no car and he got no clothes
Do what he does is all he knows

He's a donut man
Doin′ what he can
He's happy every day
Nothin' to lose, well he found his way
Donut man
Doin′ everything he can
Happy every day
Nothin′ to lose, well he found his way
Yeah, yeah

For at least ten years and a day
He's been goin′ out of his way
To give what he's got
And the Lord says he gives a lot
And the folks lay down one thin dime
To this he gives all of his time
On his face a beautiful smile
His love reachin′ out all the while

He's a donut man
Doin′ what he can
Happy every day
Nothin' to lose, well he found his way
He's a donut man
Doin′ everything he can
Happy every day
Nothin′ to lose, well he found his way
Yeah, yeah

Now the children grew up and he grew old
His hands got shaky and his shop was sold
On many lips has the story been told
There ain't nothin′ left but a donut hole

He's a donut man
Doin′ everything he can
Happy every day
Nothin' to lose, well he found his way
He′s a donut man
Doin' what he can
Happy every day
Nothin' to lose, well he found his way
