The Same Old Me Songtext

The Same Old Me Songtext
I spent a lot of dark days, sitting in a cold cage
Struggling to keep existing when the hope fades
Feeling sorry for my self, I slip into my old ways
My biggest obstacle is, getting in my own way
Traveling the road of life, ignorant with no aim
You cant expect things to be different if you won′t change
But you don't change, you just play the part
But karma always beats you at your own games
Thinking you smart and that you getting one over
Til you, slip and you fall and then you getting run over
Cause, with no warning life gone come at you fast
Forcing you to pay the price for what you′ve done in the past
No where to hide, living a lie, believing its real
No control, no keeping your inner demons concealed
Nothing left to lose, but ain't no making it right
Barely navigating thru life, cause you asleep at the wheel
I been running from my past keeping to myself
Just trying to stay low key, trying to stay low key
But I got voices in my head, trying to pull me back in
And they won't leave, they won′t leave
Finally facing my demons is the only way
I ever see of making it stop, making it stop
So I can either change, and break free of these chains
Or keep being the same old me, the same old me
No willpower, quick to fold
Sick in my addiction, just trying to kick the cold
Man I had different goals, I was supposed to be the hero of my story
But I chose to play the victim role
That shit was getting old, and so was I
But too much pride had me walking blind with open eyes
Hoping God would fix my problems, getting no reply
It was time to leave the old me behind, no goodbyes
No denying that I only had me to blame
Drowning in my self pity, busy trying to ease the pain
Watching the seasons change, I could continue to fall
Or learn to weather the storms, and let freedom rain
No more running, no more choosing to flee
No more ignoring warning signs I was refusing to see
No more excuses, just solutions I can use to succeed
I′m moving full speed ahead and I ain't losing no steam, cause
I been running from my past keeping to myself
Just trying to stay low key, trying to stay low key
But I got voices in my head, trying to pull me back in
And they won′t leave, they won't leave
Finally facing my demons is the only way
I ever see of making it stop, making it stop
So I can either change, and break free of these chains
Or keep being the same old me, the same old me
I been running from my past keeping to myself
