A Spring Symphony, op. 44: Part Two. III. Out on the Lawn I Lie in Bed Songtext
Out on the lawn, I lie in bed
Vigour conspicuous overhead in the windless night of June
Forests of green have done complete
The day′s activity, my feet point to the rising moon
Known up and south and east and west, those I love lie down to rest
The full moon looks on us there one and all
The fevers and the brilliant talkers
Eccentrics and the silent walkers The dumpy and the tall
To gravity a tentative, she can notice nothing here
Though we who hunger cannot move from gardens where we feel secure
Look up and with a sigh endure the tyrannies of love
And gentle do not care to know where Poland goes
Her eastern shore, what violence is there
Or ask what doubtful act allows a freedom in
This English house, our picnics in the sun
